The name ‘Hospice’ has always had connotations of a journey, whether a medieval pilgrimage or what Dame Cicely characterised as a ‘journey of the spirit’. She also reflected on the links between ‘Hospice’ and ‘hospitality’, the welcome of a home.

This is the light over my front door, a welcome home at the end of a journey.
