Professor Harvey Max Chochinov appointed to Canadian Senate

Cicely Saunders International congratulates Professor Harvey Max Chochinov, on his appointment as a Senator in the Senate of Canada. Professor Chochinov is an internationally recognised expert in palliative care. He is a member of the International Scientific Expert Panel of Cicely Saunders International.
Last week Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau announced the appointment of 9 new non-partisan senators, 5 women and 4 men. The new senators come from a variety of backgrounds.
“I feel honoured to be considered to serve in the Senate by the prime minister,” Chochinov told CBC News after the nomination was announced.
“It’s an opportunity to serve Manitobans and to serve all Canadians, and one that I very much look forward to.”
Dr Harvey Max Chochinov is Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry, University of Manitoba and Canada Research Chair in Palliative Care. He is Director of the Manitoba Palliative Care Research Unit at CancerCare Manitoba and Chair of Canadian Virtual Hospice www.virtualhospice.ca
