Starting Autumn 2025 – The Future of Health and Care for Ageing Populations with King’s College London

King’s College London has introduced a new online MSc in Health and Care Strategies for Ageing Populations. This innovative programme is designed for part-time study over two years, offering flexibility to study alongside professional and personal commitments.

Interdisciplinary Curriculum

The curriculum integrates perspectives from public health, social care, policy, and gerontology and it taught by leading academics and practitioners in the field of ageing and health care.

Expert Knowledge

Students will gain in-depth knowledge in ageing health care, rehabilitation, and palliative care and the skills to address the unique challenges faced by older adults.

Multidisciplinary Insights

The curriculum draws on sociology, public health, and health economics, enabling students to develop versatile, transferable skills to deliver culturally sensitive and dignified care to patients.

Transformative Skills

The course will prepare students for leadership roles in health and social care planning, policy development, and research and enable them to make a difference to the lives of ageing populations.

Core modules include

Ageing and Society: This module explores the social, economic, and cultural aspects of ageing, including demographic trends and the impact on health and social care systems.

Health and Care Systems: Students will learn about different health and care systems globally, focusing on policies, practices, and innovations that support ageing populations.

Research Methods: This module provides training in qualitative and quantitative research methods, essential for conducting studies and evaluations in health and social care.

Policy and Practice in Ageing: Examines current policies and practices affecting older adults, with a focus on developing effective strategies for improvement.

Elective Modules

Digital Health and Ageing: Investigates the role of digital technologies in supporting the health and wellbeing of older adults.

Leadership in Health and Social Care: Focuses on developing leadership skills necessary for managing and improving health and social care services for ageing populations.

Capstone Project

Research Dissertation: Students will undertake a research project on a topic related to ageing, applying the knowledge and skills gained throughout the program to address real-world challenges.

Research Focus: Students will undertake an independent research project on a topic related to ageing populations. This project allows students to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout the program to a real-world issue.

Project Scope: The project can cover various aspects of ageing, such as health care strategies, policy development, service delivery, or the impact of ageing on society.

Support and Guidance

Supervision: Each student will be assigned a supervisor who is an expert in the field. The supervisor will provide guidance and support throughout the research process.

Workshops and Seminars: The program includes workshops and seminars to help students develop their research skills and stay on track with their projects.
