We are delighted to welcome you to the 2023 Michal Galazka study day at the Cicely Saunders Institute, King’s College London. The topic of this year’s study day is out-of-hours care.

For people living at home with advanced illness, deterioration in health, severe symptoms and new problems can happen at any time, day or night. Therefore, at all times, people with advanced illness and their carers need to be able to access high-quality care that is accessible, integrated and safe. When care is not available, patients and carers may have no choice but to go to the Emergency Department.

The 2023 Michal Galazka Study Day will bring together researchers, clinicians, commissioners, policy experts to discuss recent research into out-of-hours care, understand the challenges and explore potential solutions. The talks, which include a Keynote from Dr Sarah Yardley (University College London), will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Professor Gerry McGivern (King’s College London).
