13th May 2020

This week Chris Bridges, a specialist palliative care nurse at the Cicely Saunders Institute, described to listeners of BBC Radio 4’s programme PM how his working life has changed during the pandemic. Chris works in King’s College Hospital in south London.

“Overnight my role has changed but it’s also the same .. I dislike the phrase the new normal, and refuse to accept it . … this is the new temporary”.

The item is a moving reminder of the resilience and dedication of palliative care staff working on the NHS frontline with COVID-19 patients.
