I have been involved in palliative care for many years here in Ireland and I remember Cicely's visit to the ‘Bás Solais' conference we held in 1998. ‘Bás Solais’ in Irish means ‘death with illumination’ - the theme of the conference. Very meaningful for the project, I feel! It was a wonderful experience to have her here with us.

When I bought the lamp I was amazed by the colours it shows when lit. I love to sit and read by it and it immediately reminded me of the idea that we have a responsibility to bring the fear of dying out of the shadows and into the light.
