This is my bedside light, home-made from a recycled Cointreau bottle, filled with sand to make a good solid base.

It symbolises rest, comfort and retreat, with its low energy bulb giving enough light to read by, yet lasting seemingly

forever.

Cicely shared a flat with my mother, Rosetta, and theirs was an enduring friendship. As a result of working as a summer volunteer at St. Christopher’s in the early years, my whole career has been based around aspects of palliative care and cancer nursing.

My family and I miss Cicely's company, humour, warmth, and encouragement to ‘plod on’.
