Here is a quick shot of my new repro Anglepoise lamp from John Lewis. It's a perfect reproduction of the 1930s design, so precisely balanced it moves to a new position at a touch and stays there.
Originated by Terry's Springs of Coventry, where Charles Terry, founder or son of, was a fishing pal of Cicely's father (also mine!). Charles' grandson took on the business years ago, still doing it I think. So interesting connections.
Also symbolizes efficiency in a simple domestic context - "Nothing so comforting as efficiency " - one aspect of Cicely's approach to terminal care.
