This lamp, on my bed-side table, is the first light I turn on in the morning, and the last I turn off at night. It stands just next to my Bible and a well-worn copy of Daily Light. This book, a selection of Bible verses, read twice daily, was also a favourite of Cicely's and when I read them, I often think of her doing the same.

She inspired me initially in 1969, when I was studying medicine at Cambridge and from 1980 I was privileged to work at St Joseph's Hospice and St. Christopher's Hospice (alongside her).
